Abstract:

Vincent Nshimiyimana, a boy from Cellule Gatobotobo, Nyakabuye Sector of Commune Mukingi in Gitarama Prefecture, provides a list of his relatives that were killed, who killed them, how they were killed, and date they were killed. He goes on to narrate how his home was first attacked and destroyed on April 23, 1994. They escaped to Karama and hid in a forest, then continued to Mugambira. They were arrested at a roadblock where his mother was asked to produce her identity card, then they were all beaten, undressed, and all of their belongings were stolen. Everywhere they tried to escape to, they were attacked by Hutu civilians or Interahamwe gangs. They finally reached Kabgayi and hid in the buildings that used to house TRAFIPRO, which refugees had nicknamed Chambre Nationale des Deputés CND". Vincent tells that life at Kabgayi was very difficult and the survivors were saved by RPF Inkotanyi on June 2
