Abstract:

Modeste Mundanikure, a boy from Commune Mugina in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how homes in Mugina were set on fire and how he sought refuge first at a shopping center and then the Mugina Catholic Parish. The bourgumestre of Commune Mugina was a Tutsi, and he tried unsuccessfully to stop Interahamwe attacks. He was killed, and after his death, the Parish was attacked and many Tutsi were killed. Modeste escaped and hid in many different places before he was saved by RPF Inkotanyi.
