Together with some family members, she managed to escape to Buha, but they were chased away. They decided to go to Rubona and she witnessed rowdy gangs from Ruhango being ferried in vehicles and armed with spears and clubs. In Buhenda, a gang burned homes using gasoline they had come with. At Buhenda, her mother was arrested by police, whom she had to bribe $1500 to be set free. After the RPF Inkotanyi take over Kabgayi, they got respite from attacks. Clarisse closes with an explanation of the challenges she faced after the genocide.
