Testimony content:
Abstract:

Vénant Tumukunde, a boy from Buhanda Cellule, Nyakogo Sector, Commune Masango in Gitarama Prefecture, explains that three weeks after President Habyarimana's plane was shot down, his home and those of other Tutsi's were attacked and destroyed. Tumkunde escaped, eventually seeking refuge with his maternal grandparents after discovering that Tutsi's were being spied upon. He and a companion, Valens, were later chased, arrested and beaten. They were saved from execution by a payment of 500FRW for their release. Afterwards, his sister-in-law arranged refuge in the home of Mr. Viateur for herself and Tumukunde, until hostilities ceased. He concludes his testimony by stating that 3 of his 6 siblings had been killed.
