Abstract:

Béatha Umubyeyi, a girl from Cellule Gitwiko, Mpushi Sector of Commune Nyamabuye in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how she escaped from her home and sought refuge among civilians in a rural area on April 23, 1994. She fled to Kibuye with some of her family members, where they found the bodies of many people who had been massacred. Béatha also tells how her father was severely beaten by a gang.
