Abstract:

Christine Mutamuliza, a girl from Cellule Kabanza, Gihira Sector of Commune Kayenzi in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how her neighborhood was attacked by an Interahamwe gang from Gihinga and Taba. She witnessed people being forced to drink non-lethal amounts of poison; beginning on April 21, 1994, she witnessed the Interahamwe drowning people and throwing corpses into pit latrines. The head of the cellule in which she lived was one of the leaders who killed and encouraged other Hutus to kill Tutsis. Christine fled, but her belongings were confiscated so she had no coverings for cold nights.
