Jean Marie Vianney Rudahunga, a girl from Cellule Rumambo, Bitare Sector of Commune Kayenzi in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how she escaped and hid behind boulders after her neighborhood was attacked by a gang armed with spears, machetes, and canes. She witnessed Tutsi livestock and property being looted, gangs demanding money from arrested Tutsi. Jean Marie escaped and found refuge in different homes.
