Abstract:

Emime Muhimpundu, a girl from Cellule Munyinya, Rubona Sector of Commune Kigoma in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how her village united and fought the Interahamwe who attacked them. After the villagers were overpowered, however, Tutsi property was looted and homes were destroyed. Emime's brothers were arrested by Interahamwe, stripped naked, and then killed. Emime escaped to Murama and hid in the bush for several days before continuing on to Busoroand where she was rescued by RPF Inkotanyi.
