Abstract:

Gloriose Mujawayezu, a girl from Cellule Mukoni, Kavumu Sector of Commune Kigoma in Gitarama Prefecture, explains how the introduction of multiparty democracy in Rwanda led to increased hatred of the Tutsi. Interahamwe and soldiers attached Gloriose's neighborhood on April 20, 1994, while radio RTLM broadcast messages of hate against the Tutsi. By May 3, 1994, Gloriose had witnessed refugees escaping from Bugesera as well as the killing of children. Gloriose concludes her testimony by explaining how she would like the genocide to be taught to society.
