Abstract:

Samuel Habaguhirwa, a boy from Cellule Munyinya, Rubona Sector of Commune Kigoma in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how he was orphaned during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Samuel escaped to Murama after his neighborhood was attacked, and then he hid in an Adventist church. As the attacks intensified, he hid in the forest. Samuel was arrested and beaten several times, but he was always released, and he ultimately sought refuge in Gikongoro.
