Abstract:

Antoine Gatali, a boy from Cellule Gahoko, Kiruri Sector of Commune Kigoma in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how the bourgumestre and the police attacked Tutsis. Later, government soldiers were brought in buses to attack people in his neighborhood. Antoine escaped to Bugarura with other refugees. However, while escaping, he was arrested and all of his posessions, including his clothing and money, were taken away from him. He hid in the home of an Interahamwe gang leader and tells how that leader wanted to kill him while the wife objected and proactively worked to save his life.
