Abstract:

Gonzague Bayingana, a boy from Cellule Gatoki, Nyagasozi Sector of Commune Mukingi in Gitarama Prefecture, describes how gangs attacked his village and how some neighbors helped the gangs identify homes belonging to Tutsi. The gangs set homes on fire and threw grenades into houses to kill anyone who was hiding inside. Gonzague was arrested by a neighbor who demanded a bribe, but Gonzague was rescued. He sought refuge with friends, despite the fact that their father was an Interahamwe leader, and then escaped to Commune Tambwe.
