Testimony content:
Abstract:

Marie Rose Mukantazinda, a girl from Bibungo Sector of Commune Mugina in Gitarama Prefecture, describes the first attacks that she experienced during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. They occurred in Commune Kayenzi on April 19, 1994, and her maternal grandparents were killed. Marie Rose, the daughter of a Hutu and a Tutsi, was targeted during the attacks. However, some attackers were undecided as to whether she should be killed and sent her home, using this action as proof that she was a Hutu. On learning that RPF Inkotanyi were very close to Kayenzi, Marie Rose escaped and joined them at Muganza in Kayenzi. She concludes by listing the challenges that she has experienced after the genocide.
