Abstract:

Isidore Ndagijimana, a boy from Cellule Buhanda, Nyakogo Sector of Commune Masango in Gitarama Prefecture, explains that the genocide started while he was at his grandmother's house in Gatovu and that he had to hide in millet and banana farms. Along with his grandfather, Ndagijimana escaped and traveled to Gisovu. On the way they came to a river where the Interahamwe had set a barrier and had to pay money in order to be allowed to cross. They continued to Birambo in Gashora where they stayed for about a month, by which time the genocide had come to an end.
